France: five dead in the crash of two army helicopters

MARSEILLE | Two helicopters of the French army were crushed Friday morning after being struck near the lake of Carcès, in the south-east of France, killing at least five people dead, a-t-on learned Friday morning from a source close to the investigation.

“The helicopters were struck, there were three personnel in one and two in the other, all are dead,” we said to the company of gendarmerie of Brignoles. At around 9 p.m. local time, all of the bodies had not been found, and one of them is still stuck in the cabin of a device.

The military helicopter involved in the accident are two units of the School of light aviation of the Army (EALAT) in le Cannet-des-Maures, 40 km from Saint-Tropez, said the prefecture of the Var department, in a press release.

On Friday morning, a dozen military personnel were on-site, as well as the group commander of the gendarmerie, and the sub-prefect of the Var. Two rescue helicopters Dragons, and a helicopter of the gendarmerie have been deployed on the spot.
