The first watercraft, marketed by Bombardier in 1968, is at a boat Show this weekend.
Two times faster than its creation, the craft has become, over the decades, a gear on the cutting edge of technology.
“There is almost nothing that has remained the same over time. Now, everything works electronically, so that the first watercraft were mechanical, ” says Simon Butcher, product specialist at BRP.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the watercraft, the quebec-based company BRP this weekend, the boat Show and water sports, the first seadoo jet ever traded.
Launched in 1968, the sea-doo watercraft Sea-Doo yellow and black was equipped with an engine of 18 horsepower and was designed to reach a speed of approximately 45 km/h.
“But at that time, the sales had not risen, so Bombardier had stopped the marketing of the watercraft a few years later,” says Mr. Boucher.
It was not until 1988, that is, 20 years later, that the watercraft “modern” is born, causing a craze major in the world of water sports.
Today, the watercraft more fast of BRP have a power of 300 horsepower, and can reach 105 km/h. Their V-hull makes a lot more ergonomic and their engines four times are more quiet and fuel efficient.
“And of course, it has integrated technology vehicles, points out Simon Boucher. We can have a sound system Bluetooth fully waterproof and a storage for cell phone with USB charger built in. “
