QUEBEC – The former archbishop of Quebec, Mgr Maurice Couture, who has died at the age of 91 years, will be exhibited in the cathedral-basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec, Monday morning, to allow the population to gather one last time before his funeral.

The coffin of Archbishop Maurice Couture, will be exhibited publicly, in the morning, during a ceremony that will begin at 7: 40 a.m. to the cathedral. The exhibition will take place until 13: 45.

The funeral will begin at 14 pm and will be chaired by Cardinal Gérald Cyprien Lacroix, archbishop of Quebec.

Auxiliary bishop of Quebec from 1982 to 1989, and archbishop of Quebec from 1990 to 2002, Archbishop Couture died at the hospital of St. Francis of Assisi, the 19th January last. It was then up to the sides of the cardinal Gérald C. Lacroix. Born in 1926 in the region of Thetford Mines, ordained a priest in 1951, Monsignor Maurice Couture was known for his avant-garde. It was also described as “bishop of the poor”.
