Toe-to-toe since a week on the issue of exhaustion among nurses, the Health minister, Gaétan Barrette will meet with their principal union “earlier this week”.

The entourage of the minister, however, refuses to disclose the location or the time of this meeting with the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec (FIQ).

The union demanded such a meeting for nearly two months.

The FIQ intends to address the issue of ratios of nurses to patients in health facilities, the main battle horse of its new president, Nancy Bédard.

The folder of burnout among the nurses made headlines last week after one of them, Emily Ricard, had launched a cry from the heart on Facebook.

In parallel, the nurses came to show their exasperation, occupying premises in Trois-Rivières, Sorel, Laval and the Suroît, including overtime.
