Listeriosis: advisory not to eat the “roast veal”

OTTAWA – The butcher’s shop and deli, a Kosher J & R inc., located on the boulevard Cavendish, Montreal, is conducting a recall of a roast of veal, because this product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The affected product was sold out until 5 February, inclusive, solely by the establishment, quoted above. The expiry date displayed is equal to or prior to march 5, 2018.

The product “Roasted calf cooked – Roast Veal” was packaged in vacuum-sealed packages and sold in a refrigerated state self-service, but also served by a committed and packaged in a plastic bag. The label has the words “J&R Kosher Meat & Delicatessen”.

Persons in possession of this product should not consume it. They must throw it away or return it in-store.

The ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) has stated that “food contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, are not necessarily of alteration visible or smell suspicious, but can still make you sick”.

The MINISTRY stresses that this warning is released “as a precaution” and that no cases of illness associated with the consumption of this food has not been reported until now.
