Where would you be without a father? If you are lucky and he still have in your life, or even if your time with him on Earth came to an end, there is no doubt that your experience of conquering this world without it would not be so full.
How do we know how to tie shoes? Or to ride a bike without training wheels? Who would you shout to stop telling terrible jokes, even if they’re funny? Who we are tossed high in the sky in my childhood, in the end?
The disturbing truth is that over the past few decades the role of father has changed dramatically. In 1960-e years it was unusual to grow up in a family with one parent only 10% of children were raised only by mothers.
Today, 40% of children are brought up mainly by their mothers.
According to statistics, children who grow up without a father, less likely to become rich, learn worse and even have a smaller vocabulary than children whose dads next! Not to mention the implications for overall emotional and spiritual health.
We love Superman, their incredible love and sacrifices that they do for their children. But today we want to talk a little bit about your parents, exploring just how much influence they have on you… through the DNA.
6 traits that you inherit from the father:
1. Genetic mutation.
In a study conducted in 2015 in Nature Genetics, scientists realized how pronounced thousands of different genes in mice depended on, from what father they came from. Approximately 60% of the genes of the parents were more expressive than the mother.
If you follow the genetic mutation from his father, it is much more likely to come up than if you inherit it from his mother. It explains many other interesting facts in this list.
2. Your floor.
This is one of the most famous things that dads pass on to their children for those who know something about genetics.
Infants receive a combination of chromosomes from both parents, but women have only X chromosomes, so they can pass the sex chromosome “X” to her offspring.
Men have XY chromosomes, so they can go to the chromosome “X” (which is paired with another “X” will make the girl), or pass a Y chromosome (which makes a boy).
It also means that any genes are “written” on the Y-chromosome can only come from your father. (This explains other facts!)
3. Your risk of heart disease.
Unfortunately, not all genetic material is only determining whether you get my mother’s nose, chin or your father’s famous crazy red hair of your grandfather.
Men who carry the chromosome “Y”, 50% more likely to suffer heart disease and can pass it on to their sons (not good news). But since it is found only on the Y chromosome, dad can not give the same risk to his daughters.
4. Mental health.
Older men who suffer from schizophrenia, or ADHD, are more likely to pass it on to their children. I wonder what is going on with her parents because of how their DNA changes with age.
DNA, which mothers transmit to their children, does not change with time.
5. Crooked teeth… or good dental health.
Another piece of bad news, gentlemen. Parental genes are expressed dental health more than your mother. But it can be good.
If your mom had to wear braces and teeth your father’s in perfect condition to this day, you are unlikely to need dental intervention.
6. Infertilities.
Fortunately, sterility does not necessarily causes people to refuse paternity.
But the parents, to conceive after IVF, should know that their own sons, most likely, also will struggle with infertility.
