QUEBEC | A single-family residence was heavily damaged by a fire, Sunday morning, at 5574 boulevard Chauveau Ouest, Quebec.

The fire brigade Service fire protection (SPCI) of the City of Quebec were called around 2: 45 a.m. on Sunday.

“Upon their arrival, they saw a big plume of black smoke coming from the residence”, explained the spokesperson for the SPCI, Bill Noonan.

The fire have originated in the garage of the residence, before spreading to the residence and the attic. Firefighters had to use spears drills to make openings in the walls and roof to ensure the fire does not spread further, ” said Mr Noonan.

The two occupants of the residence were already out of their homes when the fire department arrives. Their home suffered heavy damage because of the flames and the water, in addition to the holes created by spears drills of fire fighters. However, shortly after 4 a.m., the officer on site said the worsening is unlikely to fire.

“We are to meet witnesses of the event and when it will be safe, firefighters will be able to search inside to determine the cause of the fire”, said Bill Noonan.
