SALABERRY-DE-VALLEYFIELD | The helicopter of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) flew Sunday morning to try to find the two snowmobilers missing since Friday night in the region of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, without success.

The SQ has flown over a dozen strategic points where the water was brisk, between 9 a.m. and noon. The helicopter was, however, spotted no sign of the missing, said Stéphane Tremblay, a spokesperson for the SQ.

The opp intends to re-evaluate the situation Monday.

Recall that Pier-Alexandre Patenaude, 30 years old, and Alexandre Clermont, 29 years old, have left on a snowmobile to a restaurant-bar in Sainte-Barbe south of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield around 1: 30 in the morning on Friday. Rather than follow the trail federated on around thirty kilometres, they were stung by the river to find themselves in an almost straight line with the residence of one of them.

They have not been reviewed since. A search operation has been set in motion Saturday, with no result.

The authorities don’t believe they can resume the search on Sunday because of the weather. It had been indicated Saturday that the operations were completed, and that research had not succeeded.
