The acting director of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) Martin Prud’homme will unveil on February 27, its strategy to better reorganize and restore confidence in the police service in montreal.
The police chief will present his vision of recovery at the Commission of public safety to the city hall of Montreal, where the audience is invited to ask questions.
Mr. Prud’homme, director general of the Sûreté du Québec, was appointed in November last at the head of the SPVM, for a term of one year, following the unveiling of the report Bouchard. This report, which harshly criticize the internal practices within the Montreal police, resulted in the suspension of its former chief, Philippe Pitcher.
In his presentation, Martin Prud’homme will detail its top priorities, including its commitment to restructure the functioning of the Division of internal affairs, and to revise the organizational structure of the SPVM.
He also wants to review the allocation of management positions and put in place mechanisms to “ensure the fairness and transparency of the process during the selection of candidates”.
The director intends to carry out a diagnostic on the climate of work within the police service and develop its recommendations to find his successor.
