OTTAWA – mp néodémocrate Matthew Dubé was elected president of the federal caucus by his colleagues on Wednesday morning.

Member since 2011 of the riding of Beloeil-Chambly, in the Montérégie region, Mr. Dubé will be backed up by Sheri Benson, member of parliament for Saskatoon West, which has been designated vice-president.

“It is an honour for me to have been chosen as chair of the federal caucus by my colleagues. I would like to represent them with dynamism and work with them to advance the progressive policies that people are asking across the country and the party that defends all the days here in Ottawa,” said Mr. Dubé, who is a spokesperson for the New democratic Party (NDP) in the area of public security and civil protection.
