The Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec (FIQ) the announcement was made in the framework of a tour of the opposition parties in the national Assembly.
“It is a question of ensuring that the care teams, the ratios care professionals / patients, no longer be [submitted] to the vagaries of elected officials, budget cuts”, said the president of the FIQ, Nancy Bédard.
A law could also avoid the work load of the nurses is to be found periodically at the heart of negotiations with the government.
Such laws, on the ratios already exist in California and Australia, argues the president of the FIQ.
The issue of quotas of patients by a team of nursing staff is in the news since the young nurse Émilie Ricard has launched a cry from the heart on Facebook two weeks ago.
Support
Without making a formal commitment, the Parti québécois welcomed the proposal favorably. The measure would “de-politicize the issue of ratios,” says the vice-head of the PQ’s Véronique Hivon.
“It is an avenue that we find very interesting”, she says.
For Québec solidaire, it is a “great idea”. Her member of parliament, Amir Khadir, says they can only cut in the care for budgetary reasons, we do not cut off in the medication. “No one would imagine not, for example, that because of budget cuts, that the doctors or hospitals are forced to give half of the dose of the medication, for an example there.
For its part, the CAQ has not commented officially his meeting with the FIQ. “We don’t close the door to the idea of ratios, provides a press. It is necessary to put everything on the table.”
