GATINEAU – A deployment of police was still in progress Thursday around a government building located on Crémazie street in the Hull sector, Gatineau.

A parcel or an envelope containing a substance suspect has been found inside the building which has 11 floors. The occupants had to be evacuated, except those on the fifth floor.

According to Global, a single person would have been in contact with the powder is corrosive.

The police of Gatineau has appealed to a squad of specialized of the Sûreté du Québec to proceed with the analysis of the parcel or substances, but the SQ has also requested that the unit Hazmat fire department of the city of Ottawa is called on the scene.

Gatineau still has no squad specialized in the area of the suspicious package or hazardous substance.
