DETROIT | An airplane of Delta Airlines had to turn back Saturday after a bird was ingested into the cockpit, reports the Washington Post.

The presence of the volatile on the flight 1943, which ran from Detroit to Atlanta, has been reported by the pilot before take-off.

“He said : “In 18 years of career, I have never seen it. There is a bird in the cockpit,” “, recounted one of the passengers, Shane Perry, in the Washington Post.

Employees of the airport are immediately acted to drive out the intruder winged the cockpit. This one, however, was not found.

After more than an hour of research, the pilot decided to take the air, assuming that the little bird escaped through a trap door.

“We are now going to take off, but if I hear cheeping in the cockpit, we will make a half-turn “, would be said the commander over the intercom.

The intruder however had not said its last word. Described by some as a sparrow, and by others as a humming bird, the bird is again shown in the cockpit a few minutes after take-off.

For security reasons, the device is thus returned to its starting point for a resumption of the research. This time, the employees of the airport have captured the bird using a towel and kicked him out of the plane.

The flight was then resumed for a second time, to finally get to Atlanta with a three hour delay.
