A rider of 80-year-old has lost his life Sunday in a traffic accident at the intersection of the boulevard de Montarville and rue de Normandie, Boucherville.

“The cyclist was transported to a hospital and there are fears for his life”, had mentioned, the police Service of the urban agglomeration of Longueuil (SPAL) one hour after the accident occurred around 11 a.m.

The police, however, confirmed the death of the little man after 18 h.

According to the SPAL, the accident could have been caused “by a non-compliance with traffic signals on the part of the cyclist”.

The boulevard de Montarville has been closed between the streets of Avaugour and de Dijon in order to allow police officers to examine the scene of the accident. The road was reopened in the afternoon.
