A head of Roberval will be in the furnace for the world’s elite

    At the age of 35 years, the chef, Pierre-Laurence Valton-Simard, a native of Roberval, in the Lac-Saint-Jean, has several experiences in the kitchen despite his young age and he is about to face one of the challenges of the most prestigious of his career : to serve the greatest leaders in the world.

    In addition to participating in many major culinary competitions, including a few television shows, and the chief jeannois has been executive chef at The Hotel le Concorde in Quebec city and is now executive chef at the Manoir Richelieu, in Charlevoix.

    It will be in the kitchen to feast on the greatest leaders of the world gathered at the G7 Summit, which will be held at the Manoir Richelieu on 8 and 9 June.

    A challenge for the young Robervalois which has already started to prepare for the event, but that keeps the cool head in regards to this international rendez-vous.

    “You feel feverish, and we very much look forward to welcoming them to the Manor. It is already of great events, so for us it is also a part of the daily work. […] the G7, it is still non-negligible as an event, ” said the young chief, in an interview with TVA News.

    MENU SECRET

    Cook for a gathering as prestigious as the G7 brings its own set of regulations and security measures, so Mr. Valton-Simard may not reveal the composition of his menu, which he keeps secret for the moment.

    He insists however on the fact that it will be the image of the region of Charlevoix, and that he wants to discover the Quebec in the rest of the world.

    “It is sure that there are indissociable, like the maple syrup and it has some products in Quebec that you can’t really move to the side. Otherwise, the goal is really to live in the Charlevoix region. One of the producers of an exception here, ” says the cook.

    Mr. Valton-Simard will continue to work on its menu by the G7 Summit, so that its plates are perfect to receive Donald Trump, Angela Merkel and Justin Trudeau of this world.

     

    The Summit of the G7, this is :

    • The leaders of 7 countries gathered for 2 days (Canada, Usa, Japan, Germany, France, Uk, Italy).
    • Up to 12 000 rooms needed to accommodate the leaders, dignitaries and international journalists.
    • An investment of$ 15 Million for the construction of new telecommunications towers in Charlevoix and Bas-Saguenay.
