OGDEN | A man of 37 years has disappeared, in the night of Friday to Saturday, while he was kayaking with a friend on lake Memphremagog near the federal dock, located on the way to Cedarville, in Ogden, in Estrie.
The disappearance of the kayaker, a native of Stanstead, was reported around 2: 30.
According to initial information, two people were kayaking, each in their boat, when one of the two has lost another view. After having tried in vain to locate his team-mate, he did call for emergency services.
“Checks water are currently performed on the lake by the fire department of the Township of Stanstead, as well as by the marine patrol american. In addition, the raking of the banks as well as the verification of two islands in the vicinity are underway,” said Ann Mathieu, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The SQ appealed to the vigilance of the citizens of the area and showing the man using an inflatable kayak green.
