A mathematician from the Ukraine received the Israeli wolf prize in the amount of 100 thousand dollars
Corresponding member of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Vladimir Drinfeld and his co-author Alexander Beilinson received the Israeli prize of the wolf.

Scientists working at the University in Chicago (USA). They were awarded for a series of innovative works on geometry, which “are of paramount importance” for the theoretical physics, particularly string theory.

“The result of the fruitful cooperation between two mathematicians awarded the wolf is revealing the deep connections between abstract mathematics and physics through the study of the basic algebraic structures working in the field of quantum field theory, which, in turn, is the theoretical basis of modern physics of elementary particles”, – stated in the message.

The results of the study outlined in the book “Chiral algebra”.

The prize Fund of wolf celebrated annually 5-6 figures in several areas of modern science. At this point it was already awarded 329 scholars and artists from around the world. Laureates receive their awards from the President of the state of Israel.

The prize includes a cash sum of $100 thousand.
