A person in critical condition after a violent fire in Sainte-Thérèse

SAINTE-THÉRÈSE | The fire of a two-storey building housing a restaurant and two dwellings two injured, one critically, during the evening of Monday in Sainte-Thérèse.

According to firefighters, the flames started shortly before 18 h in a housing located at the rear of the restaurant Arousse. The arrival of the fire, the flames were already apparent and important at the rear of the building, explained Mathieu Lacombe, chief of operations for the service de sécurité incendie de Sainte-Thérèse.

Two people were injured during the disaster and had to be transported to the hospital. One of them was in a critical state at the end of the evening, ” said Mr. Lacombe.

A fifth alarm had to be sounded to fight the fire. About 60 firefighters have been deployed, while Sainte-Thérèse has had to call in reinforcement in the fire of the cities of Saint-Eustache, Mirabel, Boisbriand, Blainville and Bois-des-Filion.

Despite the efforts of firefighters, the building could not be saved. The building is considered a total loss.

The fire department is busy always to extinguish the fire, shortly after 22 h. The cause of the blaze remained unknown.
