SHERBROOKE | A statue of six meters high, valued at a little more than $ 100 000 will be installed at the Place de la gare de Sherbrooke the next summer.
Created by the quebec artist Roberto Pellegrinuzzi, the implementation of “The Sentinels” will represent three of the young fern shoots, or “the head of violin”, stainless steel five to six metres in height.
The sculpture will be arranged in front of the gateway of the lake of Nations and will be part of the circuit of art and the mosaics, which will be inaugurated this summer.
The artistic course, which will be composed of 14 mosaiculture, has to enhance the landscapes of Sherbrooke, and to recall the history of these sites, including the Lake of the nations!
“The mosaiculture, it’s been run people. It is an art form that appeals to and is accessible to pretty much all the world,” explained Danie Béliveau, media officer for Tourisme Cantons-de-l’est.
The promenade du Lac des nations has transformed since the years 2000. In the past, the trail was not paved, the facilities were deficient and it was impossible to make the tour of the lake to the full.
Today, the place has become a must for citizens and the thousands of tourists who visit Sherbrooke each year.
“It is the centre of the city. Since the adjustments have been made, it really makes a difference,” said Ms. Beliveau.
The lake of the Nations will take a new step this summer with the arrival of this circuit of works to the public. The development work will begin in the coming weeks.
