    RIMOUSKI | centre de ski de Rimouski in serious financial difficulties to suspend its operations for failing to comply with its agreement with Hydro-Québec for the payment of its electricity bill.

    In spite of excellent skiing conditions this weekend, the clientele of the resort Val Neigette has encountered closed doors because its management fails to meet its commitment to the Crown corporation.

    Two years of setbacks

    The trials and tribulations of Val-Neigette persist for more than two years. In 2016, two creditors of the company, the Company’s Development of the communities of la Neigette (SADC) and the federal business development Bank, have initiated legal proceedings for non-payment. The debt of the ski centre stood at this time at $173,000.

    Last spring, the owner of Val-Neigette, Mathieu Dufour, had tried without success to sell the chairlift and snow cannons in the resort. Mr. Dufour has not been recalled by The Newspaper to explain the situation.

    Many skiers have turned to other centres of the Bas-Saint-Laurent at the beginning of the season since the cottage was not available and his phone had been disconnected, full pre-sale of subscriptions of the season.
