A student, 22-year-old from Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke has accidentally lost his life in the dominican Republic Saturday.
This is Ben Houtman, who was a student at the School of management, Williams of Bishop’s, according to a press release issued by the academic institution, Sunday evening.
It was in this Caribbean country in the company of several classmates, but he was not in the context of a course or activity organized by the university.
“We know that this tragedy will be deeply felt by many members of our community. Ben was a young man unifying, positive, and extremely thoughtful. He enjoyed a wide circle of friends and provided always that nobody feels excluded,” said the principal of Bishop s, Michael Goldbloom.
The dean of student affairs of the university, Stine Linden-Andersen, visited the site in order to support the relatives of Ben Houtman, as well as the students.
Psychological support is also offered to those who need them, said the executive.
