A teenager of 16 years who has been close to death in a violent boating accident in 2014 has decided to give back to those who have saved lives by organizing, for a school project, a benefit show with like head of poster of none other than Mario Tessier.

The event, which was held Monday evening in the theatre with the Star of Quartier Dix30 in Brossard, has helped raise nearly $ 18,000 (it was announced 16 000 $ at the start), which have been donated to the Fondation du CHU Sainte-Justine Centre of Excellence in Trauma care.

This place is of particular importance for Antoine Bombardier, the one who is behind this project, organised in the framework of a court of the fifth secondary. In July 2014, the boat in which he and his family took place, was violently hit by another boat. Antoine suffers a trauma concussion and severe laceration of the ear. Today, the young man does not feel any more of the aftermath of the incident and there is no lack of determination. “For me, it is a way to thank them, simply explains Antoine. I didn’t know how to do it, but when I saw the opportunity with the project, I seized it.”

The idea was born last April, but she has really materialized to the start of classes. Between the making of a promotional poster, the sale of tickets, the organisation of the event, the search for sponsors and a advertising campaign in local businesses, Antoine stopped counting the hours he spent on this project which, by his own admission, has taken proportions that are unexpected.

“I knew it would be big, but I hadn’t realized all the work that it entailed,” said he, after the fact.

    Convince Mario Tessier

Comedian Mario Tessier has been involved in the project without being paid and in the words of Antony, he did not hesitate a second before accepting the invitation.

“I knew where he lived so I went to ring home on a Sunday morning. I told him my story and what I wanted to do. He told me that he embarquerait provided that I’m responsible for the organization of the event and that he would do the show,” says Antoine.

Over 600 spectators came out to witness the spectacle, of which several were aware of Anthony and her story.

“It was a very nice evening, people came to greet me at the entrance of the room where I was,” says the young man who admits to having felt a certain nervousness. I had to climb on the stage at the beginning of the show and at the end to return the amount.”
