LONGUEUIL | police in Longueuil have arrested a teenager of 16 years at his residence, on Friday morning, because we suspected him of wanting to go to school with a firearm in order to “settle a dispute” with another student.

The young man was to be met by the investigators during the course of the day to give his version of the facts.

According to the authorities, information had been circulating on the social networks in the night from Thursday to Friday, suggesting that the suspect wanted to take on another young boy with whom he had had a conflict the day before.

“We have therefore requested the support of the management of the school to identify the young, which has allowed us to arrest him,” said the agent, Jean-Pierre Voutsinos, spokesman of the police of Longueuil.

The authorities have taken the opportunity to remind the public of the importance of their communicating any information that may seem worrisome, either on social networks or elsewhere.
