A man in Calgary who was based in a critical condition after suffering a tear in the esophagus during her vacation in Puerto Vallarta, died Saturday evening in a hospital in Mexico.

The family and friends of Troy Black have confirmed his death Sunday morning on a page that Facebook created to come help him.

“We are sad to announce that Troy Black passed away last night of cardiac arrest. On behalf of the family and friends of Troy, thank you for all this love and support. Thank you to all the world. And a special thank you to those who donated blood. Your donations will save lives.”

The family of Troy Black had appealed to the generosity of other tourists trying to get donations of blood after he was rushed to hospital last week.

Troy Black rested between life and death until the hospital had enough blood type O+ to stabilize his condition and back on their feet, according to what was reported by the “Calgary Herald”.

“He has received all the blood type O-positive blood bank [of the hospital], had explained to his wife, Lindsay Black, daily of Calgary. It needs a second endoscopy, but it must be in a stable state for it, and he needs more blood.”

A campaign of support had been put in place by the close of the Black, asking people in the vicinity of Puerto Vallarta to make a blood donation.

The man was kept alive with the help of medical equipment, which prevented his repatriation to Canada.
