SHAWINIGAN – Marc-André Paquin will take the path of the cells for a kick, which could have been fatal. He pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault Tuesday afternoon at the Palais de justice de Shawinigan.
The facts date back to September 2015, during an altercation between the accused and the victim, on the Festival western de Saint-Tite.
Marc-André Paquin believed that Martin Caron was a bit too pushy during a discussion with one of her friends. The minds were heated, but people are sure to separate them so they don’t come to blows.
However, Martin Caron would have bent down to pick up a stuffed toy that he had won earlier in the evening. It was then that Marc-André Paquin has taken a violent kick to the head.
Mr. Caron fell backwards and hit head violently against the ground. The paramedics found him in a pool of blood.
He remained seven days in a coma and had to be operated on to the brain. The doctors have even feared for his life. He still bears scars today.
We allowed three days of trial, but the accused has finally decided to recognize the narrative of the events and plead guilty.
“There have been discussions at the last minute. Mr. Paquin has decided to dispose of his folder. There will be arguments for the award on February 21, but we present a suggestion common to the judge and we can think from the outset that it will include a prison sentence,” said his lawyer, Jean-Sebastien Gladu.
Paquin is now 33 years old and has a toddler.
In court, he explained that it was not his intention to inflict such injuries. He said to the judge, pleading guilty to settle this story once and for all.
