While the powerful hurricane Irma category 5 ripped through the Caribbean, the carrier Air Transat has launched on Wednesday a major operation to evacuate all of its passengers to the dominican Republic.
The carrier has dispatched a total of ten aircraft to the island of Hispaniola, of which seven to Punta Cana.
Two other aircraft are sent to Puerto Plata, while another will evacuate passengers to Samana.
“All devices are expected to arrive in the dominican Republic on September, 6 in the morning and the passengers should be back in Canada in the afternoon or early evening. This transaction will allow repatriation of over 2000 passengers,” said Air Transat in a press release.
Air Transat said to have set up its “political Hurricane” for all the flights until 11 September at the destination of the dominican Republic, Cuba and Haiti.
