The police of the MRC Beauce-Sartigan request the assistance of the public to identify a man suspected of identity fraud in Anjou and Pointe-aux-Trembles.

The events occurred on the 11th of January last. The wanted man had tried to get a credit card, by presenting false identity documents in two banks: the one on boulevard des Galeries d’anjou in Anjou, the other in the region of Pointe-aux-Trembles.

The transactions have, however, been stopped, thanks to the vigilance of the employees.

“Identity fraud refers to the use of real data of a person in the course of a fraud. This included the theft of identity and fraudulent use of bank cards, in contrast to identity theft, which refers to the collection of personal information of another person to commit a criminal act. Identity theft can occur in multiple ways: by e-mail, mail, telephone or the Internet,” highlighted the Sûreté du Québec.

Anyone with information identifying the suspect may communicate anonymously and confidentially to the 1-800-659-4264.
