Boisbriand: drowning in the swimming pool of a residence for seniors

    A man of 70 years was found lifeless Tuesday afternoon at the bottom of the swimming pool of a residence for the elderly in Boisbriand, on the North Shore of Montreal.

    The police received an emergency call around 13: 15, asking them to go to the Residences Desjardins Boisbriand, on the chemin de la Grande-Côte, where one of the residents of the place had to be found at the bottom of the pool, in the backyard of the establishment.

    “Police quickly arrived on the spot and one of them has removed his jacket bulletproof, and his belt and then jump in the water to fetch the victim,” said agent Martin Charron, a spokesman for the Régie intermunicipale de police Thérèse-De Blainville.

    The septuagenarian has been brought back on firm ground, and was immediately taken in charge by the emergency services.

    Of the cpr to have been practiced during the ambulance trip to the hospital. The elder, unfortunately, could not be brought back to life, and his death has been found by a physician in the hospital.

    An investigation has been initiated to try to establish the cause and circumstances of the tragedy. At first sight, there would have been no negligence on the part of the staff of the residence for the elderly, according to our information.

    The man was last seen by a clerk at the residence about 12: 45. It has been found inert at the bottom of the water 30 minutes later.

    At this stage of the investigation, the police are unaware of what has happened during these 30 minutes. Several of the witnesses will have to be met in the course of the next few hours.

    Attached to the phone, a person in charge of the Residences Desjardins Boisbriand declined to comment.
