Brossard: A hotel is the prey of the flames

A violent fire broke out in the Econo-Lodge, Wednesday morning in Brossard, on the South Shore of Montreal.

According to preliminary information, the fire would be declared at 6: 30 in this hotel located on boulevard Taschereau.

Fifty firefighters are on site trying to control the blaze, in the morning. The towering plume of smoke was visible for miles.

“The battle fire is going well now, said the chief of the fire Department of the agglomeration of Longueuil, Jean-Guy Ranger. At the time [where the fire occurred], all the people had been evacuated.”

“It was done very quickly. Everyone has banged on the doors. [All the world] came out pretty quickly, the job was well done,” said a man who was staying at the hotel.

No ambulance transport was not necessary. A sapper was lightly wounded after falling.

The cause of the fire remained unknown, in the morning.
