OTTAWA | The company ISO Beauty Inc is conducting a recall of hair dryers from brands ISO Beauty and Proliss, since they can cause burns.

“The cord may become brittle near the base of the dryer, posing a risk of burns,” said Health Canada in a press release.

If in Canada, no incident has been reported, the United States, however, 35 incidents where the dryer is produces sparks or smoke, including three incidents that resulted in injuries to hands and fingers, have been reported to the company.

The recall relates to hair dryers of 1 600 to 2 000 watts available in a variety of colors (black, white, pearl white, peacock, zebra, white leopard, pink, blue, and giraffe). The brand name ISO or Proliss and the model number HD-1820 is included at the back of the dryer.

About 1 000 and 73 000 products listed in the recall were sold in Canada and the United States respectively. In Canada, they were sold from march 2013 to January 2018 in the Winners stores and Groupon Canada.

Health Canada advises owners of these products to stop using it and contact ISO Beauty for a store credit or another product.
