MONTREAL – Several actors of the civil society “in favour of rurality strong” has been launched on Tuesday, the mobilization of québec entitled “All rural”, sponsored by the storyteller and singer Fred Pellerin.

Among the constituency which supports this approach, there is the coalition Solidarité rurale du Québec (SRQ), the Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA), the Coop fédérée and Desjardins.

“All rural aims to re-establish bridges between urban and rural areas to enable Quebecers to become aware of their complementarity and interdependence”, said by press release Marcel Groleau, president of SRQ and the UPA.

“It is time to consider our territory as a whole that needs urban and rural interest”, he added.

For his part, Fred Pellerin has made it clear that rurality is not limited by borders. On the contrary, it is “everywhere : in our plate, the energy that runs our son, the fabric that we carry, the dreams that we cherish !”

“All rural” has also raised some problems affecting rural areas, such as the scarcity of labor, the decreasing population and the accessibility to the services, including the Internet.

Personalities such as chef Ricardo Larivee, the environmentalist Laure Waridel and actor Évelyne Gélinas are associated with this initiative.
