The opposition to the city hall of Montreal will present a motion to require the holding of a public consultation by the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM) on the closure to cars of the track Camillien-Houde road on mount Royal.

In addition to this motion that will be debated in the coming weeks, and of resolutions on this topic filed in the 10 districts of the City, All Montreal wants also that studies of the impact on traffic in the vicinity of mount Royal are made.

“The refusal of the administration Plant to conduct a public consultation prior to the project pilot goes against all good practices of public participation and social acceptability, and seems rather to demonstrate the dogmatism of the administration in the face of everything that touches the place of the car in the city. The elect of All the Montreal are ready to discuss the redevelopment of mount Royal and the end of the transit vehicle; it is sufficient that the approach is based on a vision of the whole, and is done in consultation with the citizens”, supported by news Lionel Perez, interim leader of the opposition.

Mr Perez accuses the mayor Valérie Plant to have taken “in haste” and “without an overall vision” this decision to prevent vehicles from passing through the mount Royal to reach the east or the west of the city.

“Mount Royal is a destination of montreal, metropolitan and a major tourist, and administration Plant may not simply disregard the social acceptability in this folder,” said Lionel Perez.
