SAINT-TÉLESPHORE – A driver is in a critical condition after her sport utility vehicle was struck by a freight train Monday at 3 a.m. on route 325 in Saint-Télesphore, in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
The force of the impact completely crushed the van’s roof on its driver’s side, the Florida Highway Patrol says. https://t.co/0RK4iQ3Q9j pic.twitter.com/uMxs6KRSGZ

“The speed would be in question,” said Audrey-Ann Bilodeau, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The investigators will try to determine if the vehicle skidded as she tried to rein in waiting for the arrival of the train or if the driver attempted to cross the level crossing before the train’s arrival.
Highway 325 is closed to traffic to allow investigators to reconstruct the scene.
