MONTREAL – the formal adoption of The first budget of the administration Plant by the elected montreal will take place on Wednesday morning, while citizens and merchants dissatisfied will gather in front of city hall to protest against the increase of taxes planned in the budget.

The event will begin at 8: 30 a.m., one hour prior to the start of the special meeting for the adoption of the budget by 2018.

Notably hosted by Peter Sergakis, president of the Association of owners of commercial buildings in Quebec (APBCQ) and by the journalist and activist Rhonda Massad, it is the continuation of a first meeting, which took place last Sunday in Pointe-Claire.

Remember that the budget 2018 forecasts a 3.3% increase in the tax burden in the residential sector and 3% for the non-residential sector.

The quota imposed on the 15 demerged municipalities will increase by 5.3 %.

“The APBCQ recalls that, although the increase of the land tax, announced by the mayor Plant is charged in the first place, to the owners of the buildings, it remains that, in the majority of cases, this will be the commercial tenants and residential, ultimately, will have to bear the costs,” said the organization in a press release, inviting Montrealers and residents of the cities related to participating in the event.

The opposition of the Montreal city hall will vote against the adoption of the budget proposed by the administration of Valerie Plant, and wishes that the latter waives the increase of the water tax.

For its part, the mayor has repeatedly indicated it has no intention to amend the budget submitted by his administration in spite of the grumbling.
