Five men have been arrested in the night from Thursday to Friday in the Mauricie region for their alleged involvement in a double murder attempt that occurred a few hours earlier, at Three-Rivers.

According to police, the five suspects would be reported in a residence on rue Saint-Françcois-Xavier Thursday noon, in order to “settle a dispute” with one of the occupants of the place.

“The situation has really degenerated,” reported the officer Carole Arbelot, the spokesman of the police of Trois-Rivières.

During the altercation, one of the suspects would have drawn a firearm and allegedly shot a man and a woman, critically injuring.

The suspect then fled, while the two victims were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries that do not put their life in danger.

The survey of police identified the suspects in the case. Four of them were arrested at about 3 a.m. in the morning, in the night of Friday, near a bar in Saint-Boniface, near Shawinigan.

The fifth suspect was pinned in his vehicle on highway 40, not far from Trois-Rivières.

The five men, aged between 18 and 20 years were to appear Friday afternoon at the palais de justice de Trois-Rivières under a variety of charges.
