Dozens of dog owners have encouraged their companion on his legs to participate in a good cause, these last days, by donating their blood to help sick animals across the country.

These dogs and their masters have answered the call for donations to the blood Bank, canadian animals (BSCA), who wished to fill its reserves to the Holiday season.

The Winnipeg-based organization maintains collections in Manitoba, as well as in the regions of Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto. The blood products are then sent across the country.

“Just like humans, dogs need blood products. They may suffer an accident, their protein level may drop, they may swallow some of the poison to the rats”, has listed the responsible for the recruitment of donors and veterinarian Mary Robinson, in an interview with Global News.

The appeal for donations seems to have given good results since many of the dogs were on their first donation in recent days, according to the pictures shared by the BSCA on the social networks.

To be able to donate blood, a dog must be between the ages of one and eight years of age, weigh at least 25 kg (55 lb) and have its vaccination record to date and, obviously, to have a temperament that is calm to perform the blood collection.
