He will play against Maxime Laporte, president of the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste, who confirmed Tuesday that he maintains his candidacy for the nomination in spite of the arrival of Mr. Aussant.
“We announce today an inauguration, and not even a nomination for the election campaign”, recalled Mr. Aussant, at a press conference.
“Those who make much of the fact that there is an investiture here need to understand that the democratic foundations [of PQ] imply that any member may be present at the inauguration of his party”, he added.
Mr. Aussant announced his return to active politics last Thursday, without however ruling on the constituency that he would like to represent.
Mr. Aussant also acts as an advisor to the chief and the vice-head of the PQ, Jean-François Côté and Véronique Hivon, on the topics of metropolis and entrepreneurship.
Mp pq Nicole Léger announced in January that she will not seek a new mandate at the general elections next fall. Ms. Léger has been elected for the first time in 1996. Pointe-aux-Trembles has always been in the hands of the PQ since its creation in 1988.
