Even if everything indicates that security cameras filmed a man pointing his gun toward the officers before they fired on him, the Office of the independent investigations has dispatched, in full holiday, a team particularly large Monday in Montreal-North.

Services 11 investigators have been necessary when a robbery has gone wrong, Monday morning.

Shortly after 9 a.m., a taxi driver called 911 to report that a client had been threatened with a weapon, and had stolen the contents of his cash before fleeing.

The driver, who was still in line with the 911, followed the robber for a distance of approximately 300 metres. The police arrived, the suspect was hiding in a bus shelter on the boulevard Pie-IX, near the street of Charleroi.

According to preliminary information made public by the Office of the independent surveys (EIB), a little more than two hours after the events, a man of 26 years was always armed and would not have cooperated when the officers asked him to get rid of his weapon.

He also allegedly “made a gesture in the direction of the police officers,” according to the EIB, and it is at this time that the officers opened fire. The young man has been reached once.

He was taken to the hospital, where the doctors did not fear for his life.
