Employees of Sears are worried

    Employees worried about their future have welcomed many guests that came on Saturday to the branch office of Sears Canada to Brossard in the hope of finding discount juicy.

    “It was crazy, this morning. Since the announcement of the closure that it is like that, ” said an employee.

    Last Tuesday, the company has been in the country for more than 64 years indicated that it would ask the Ontario superior Court of justice to initiate its liquidation, and to put an end to its activities. A judge has given the green light to approach on Friday.

    But the customers who came into the store Saturday to find bargains have been disappointed. The sale closing shall officially begin next Thursday, after the coming of the liquidator, explained the employees, who did not want to be named.

    Discount closure

    Several of them have mentioned that there might be good discounts on the products, without being able to quantify them exactly.

    Saturday, a savings of $ 900 on chillers up to 2300 $, suitcases to

    65 % discount and chairs at half price gave the impression of a liquidation sale. It is, however, usual promotions, according to the employees.

    “It was thought that it could attract more customers, but, apparently, it has changed nothing in the decision to close these stores,” notes a clerk.

    Mine low

    Many employees met Saturday in the shop had mine low. They announced this week that it was 10 to 14 weeks of work, the time to liquidate the goods.

    “We knew that it wasn’t going too well, but we never thought that they will close all branches, only the less cost-effective. And here, there was always a lot of people, ” said an employee who worked for the company for several decades.

    “I’m going to have to find me work, and at my age, this is not at all easy,” adds the employee in the fifties.

    “It is a pity, because it really was an institution. My mother loved coming to shop here regularly, ” says a client, Nashwa Mina.

    Sears Canada has 130 stores coast to coast and over 12,000 employees, most of whom are part-time positions.
