MONTREAL – Pedestrians and cyclists should unite their voices, on Saturday morning, protesting the late opening of the bicycle lanes and sidewalks of the Jacques-Cartier bridge, in Montreal.
In a press release issued Saturday, the Association of pedestrian and cyclists of the Jacques-Cartier bridge (APC-PJC) has lamented that the opening of these tracks has been delayed in the month of April because of work. It demands access to year-round for pedestrians and cyclists.
“The treatment reserved for pedestrians and cyclists is discriminatory and contrary to the policies of the federal government to reduce GHG and to promote active living, said the APC-PJC. We wish that the only access between Montreal and the South Shore for cyclists and pedestrians is open all year round, even during the winter period.”
The gathering was to take place at 10 a.m., at the entrance of the multipurpose path on the Jacques Cartier bridge, in the park of Veterans.
