Francesca Casadio from the Center of science for art Chicago, which led the project, in turn, noted that widespread use of the new scanner will deepen our understanding of artists and will reveal more information as they worked.

“A lot of paintings waiting to tell their secrets. With the new scanner we will help you to tell them more,” – said the expert.

As for the findings, it was found that a landscape picture rotated 90 degrees: the contours of the hills became back women which has absorbed the forms of the Catalan countryside.

According to the curator of the art Institute of Ontario Kenneth Brummel, this will not only help to date the picture and identify where it was created, but also a better feel of the artist, and learn more about how he created the forms that we see on the surface.
