A month ago, the digital distribution service games Steam has stopped to accept cryptanalyse bitcoin, and now Facebook has updated the rules for placing advertising on the social network, putting a ban on everything related to cryptocurrency and the primary location of the tokens (ICO) outside the law, reports Rus.Media.
Note that the ban on advertising of cryptanalytic and ICO applies to Instagram, as well as the network Audience Network, which places ads in third-party applications.
In Facebook explained its decision by saying that they want to protect the users of social networks advertising of financial products and services, “which are often associated with such that are misleading or deceitful methods of promotion.” And indeed the last time the network appears more and more reports about various fraud schemes using cryptanalytic and ICO. However, a complete ban – a highly controversial decision, but for Facebook, the proliferation of fake news especially painful subject.
“We want users to learn about new products and services with advertising in Facebook without fear of fraud or deception. However, there are many unscrupulous companies that advertise binary options, and cryptocurrency ICO”, – said the Director of product management at Facebook, Rob Leuven.
In Facebook noted that in the future its current position can be changed in the direction of easing through the development of effective mechanisms to identify fraudulent ads. Until now, Facebook will remove any such ads and asks users to immediately report cases of violations of the new rules.
