TORONTO – A jumper 43-year-old died on Friday morning, during a training day at the racetrack Woodbine in Toronto.

The accident occurred at about 7 a.m. on the training track of the hippodrome. The jumper would have fallen from his horse after it collided with another horse that was coming in the opposite direction. Seriously injured, the 43-year-old was transported to the hospital, where his death has been found.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of the members of our community this morning. We send our condolences to his family and to his friends,” said Jamie Martin, executive vice-president of the group Woodbine Entertainment, in a press release.

The hippodrome, which has cancelled all of her planned races on Friday, also said that the two horses were not injured.

An investigation has been initiated for officials of the ministry of Labour and the Toronto police.
