Folk festival “Makaryev day” is celebrated on 1 February (old style – January 19).

In the Church calendar is the commemoration day of St. Macarius the Great. Other names of the holiday: “Makar-wesnousky”, “Day of Macarius”, “Macarius the Great”, “Makar clear.” Saint Macarius was living in Egypt.
