PARIS – Philippe Couillard made the promotion of a measure of equality between the sexes, but its economic mission in France has very little of women and it does not undertake to form a government with equal representation.

“There are not many firms in Quebec which have been joint. Mr. Charest has had one at one time, and we would like to reproduce it if possible, but we want the best people. We want to definitely be in the area of gender equality, so much the better if there could be more women than man,” said Mr. Couillard Thursday during a media scrum on the sidelines of a week-long mission in France.
The governments of Justin Trudeau and Edward Philip, French prime minister, arrive yet-to-be joint. “We have the area of parity, which is already for us interesting,” said Mr. Couillard.
Five out of 49 people
The economic delegation of Quebec in France has very few women. The aerospace industry, only two women were present, compared to 26 men. For the information technology, there were only three women to 18 men.
“It depends on the industries that are represented. What it tells us is that in the aviation industry, there is still an under-representation on women. It is for this reason that we want to improve the access of girls to science education and technology,” retorted Mr. Couillard
Index of gender equality
Premiers Philippe Couillard and Édouard Philippe took advantage of the international Day of women’s rights to announce the creation of another index of the equality of men and women during a joint press briefing at Matignon, the official residence of Mr. Philip.
However, other indices exist already. Index social Institutions and gender equality (ISE) of the OECD measure, at the international level, discrimination against women in social institutions. The world economic Forum has also created an index to assess the situation of women, based on 14 indicators, including the level of education, participation in political life or the ratio between the wages of men and women.
However, Philippe Couillard, in announcing the creation of a new index, has spoken of those that already exist as”draft” which doesn’t inspire a “feeling of membership”.
