Free Mobile: worries about the Orange network?

Techno 10 February, 2017

Is the roaming contract between Free Mobile and Orange disappearing? Arcep wants the possibility for Free Mobile subscribers to browse the Orange network as soon as possible. Free is now deploying its 3G and 4G mobile network but in the meantime the contract is still in effect: Free does not yet cover the entire population with its own network.

Often criticized by consumers and, above all, by its competitors, the roaming contract seems to give rise to new concerns at the beginning of 2017.

A break from the Internet when passing through the Orange network?

Since January 2017 the forum of the Universfreebox site is experiencing more and more complaints: Free Mobile subscribers try to find answers to their problem without really success. The topic on the issue has reached 13 pages and the testimonies continue: all seem to have the same problem that would increase.

Subscribers Free Mobile would have a bug: their mobile Internet disappears when they pass on the Orange network. They can use phone calls and continue sending SMS but the 3G or 4G connection, already limited by the new terms of the contract between Orange and Free, disappears. To work around the problem it would seem that the only solution is for subscribers to turn off and restart the phone.

The complaints of the users make it possible to rule out a compatibility problem with a particular telephone: many models are impacted. One of the users of the forum, Christoliquide, would nevertheless have found a solution beginning with Free technical service.

The bug could come from a problem of the SIM card: the technician Free would have updated the SIM card of Christoliquide, it is what it is mentioned on the forum, and the network would have found the stability. But it is not yet certain that this is the definitive solution.
