Convicted of a gang-rape committed in October 2014 as the two friends, Dominic Vezina and Jean-Christophe Martin, the ex-singer Pierre-François Blondeau had been punished with a sentence of 30 months in prison.

Unlike the two other accused who have had a sentence of 5 years detention, the participation of Blondeau had been considered to be of less.

It is for this reason that the lawyers of the prosecution and the accused had proposed a sentence of one year in prison. The justice François Huot had, however, refused this proposal and instead sentenced Blondeau to 30 months.

The 22 year old male, however, has appealed the sentence and obtained a hearing on it on January 19th. In its decision, the court has recalled that the crimes of Blondeau “do not have the same gravity” as that of the other two accused.

“The case seems initially quite different from that of Dominic Vézina,” said justice Paul Vézina. Recall that Dominic Vézina challenges the sentence and the verdict in this case.

“The grounds for the appeal on the merits appear to me to be serious” and the court therefore considers that it is sufficient to “allow the appeal”.

The minimum conditions of keep the peace and the order, to reside at his address and not to move, surrender his passport and report to the prison system if the call is rejected have been imposed. Blondeau has submitted a letter from a contractor willing to give him work.
