The leader of the parti québecois Jean-François Lisée suggests to the voters of the county of Philippe Couillard vote for anyone except the prime minister in the next elections, and even if his own party has not yet presented a candidate in Roberval.

“When the liberals were going to lose, if Mr. Couillard was elected in [Roberval], he will resign the next day or two and you are going to be partial. If you vote for Mr. Couillard because you want to have a prime minister, it is likely that you will not get it. Do you avoid a partial and give its leave […] to Mr. Couillard so that he can return to the private sector”, said Mr. Lisée in the context of a passage of two days in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, which ends Tuesday.

Jean-François Lisée has also spoken out about the recent polls that give the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ), François Legault far ahead in voting intentions. This advance demonstrates, according to him, that voters are at least willing to say goodbye to the liberals and that a victory of the PQ is still possible.

“I am glad that the CAQ is ahead so far before the election because […] the one who arrives first, it is not sure that it happens first on the evening of the election. For the moment, [the voters] look to the CAQ with the appeal of novelty, but what it offers, it is the opposite of what [they want]”.

The quebec general election will be held for the first time on a fixed date, the 1st October next.
