The study is published in ACS Nano, reports Rus.Media.

In their experiments, the experts used the sperm for the targeted delivery of anticancer drug doxorubicin to cancer tissues of the uterus. For this pre-treated sperm (doxorubicin actively penetrates the heads of male germ cells) supplied the controlling directions due to the movements of the magnetic chromatogram.

Reaching the tumor tissue, sperm were attached to the wall of a cancer cell, a head at last began to penetrate doxorubicin. In this way for three days managed to destroy 87 percent cancer cells.

Doxorubicin used in chemotherapy for cervical cancer. The use of sperm for the targeted delivery of the drug avoids the side effects of treatment associated with exposure of doxorubicin to the healthy tissue.

Scientists believe that such spermbath can also be used for the treatment of endometriosis (overgrowth of cells of the inner layer of the uterine wall) or delivery of the drug methotrexate to ovum ectopic pregnancy.
