MONTREAL – The place of women in politics and in society has occupied a prominent place at the conference offered to the former candidate to the presidency of the United States Hillary Clinton at the Palais des congrès de Montréal on Monday night, in front of over 3500 people.
“The only way out of the sexism of the policy is to have more women in politics,” she said going into the game.
Asked about the accusations of sexual harassment for the american producer Harvey Weinstein, she invited the women to denounce.
His words have affected a number of politicians present in the audience. “I think with what’s happening this week in Quebec, about Clinton are particularly inspiring,” explained the minister responsible for the status of women, Hélène David.
“It is an inspiring woman and, in these times of electoral campaign, it has too few women who were interested in politics,” added the mayor of the borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, Anie Samson.
The former first lady of the United States made a tour to promote his book “What Happened” (“it happened like this”, in French) in 15 cities in the United States and Canada. As in Toronto, the person who was interviewed is Caroline Codsi, the founder of the organization Governance in the feminine. “It has been much criticized, for a certain coldness, a certain distance with the people. This is not the woman I met, she is very engaging and very warm”, she said.
Mrs. Clinton was warmly applauded by the spectators arriving on scene. In her book, Hillary Clinton explains the reasons which led to the defeat, mentioning in particular the involvement of the FBI at the end of the campaign and, especially, the”interference” of the Russian” which she attributes to a “new cold war that is only beginning. We are in the middle of a struggle between a liberal democracy and a dictatorship. The weapons are not missiles, but rather the misinformation”, she continued.
Mrs. Clinton has also been described as Donald Trump’s “the first candidate of the reality show. I was the candidate of reality. I was just not as entertaining.”
